Forbidden Kingdom & The Shawshank Redemption

The Forbidden Kingdom

This movie? When I watched it, Lord of the Rings just came to mind.seriously. Its actually for me...a chinese LOTR + Narnia. Haha. yeah for those who have watched it or when u do watch it eventually,u'll get what i mean. Truth be told..it wasnt really my cup of tea. i mean yea, theres jackie chan and jet li and their cool *WACHAA!* kick-butt kungfu and all..but overall,it was just okay for me..definitely not something too good since i paid RM 12 for it LOL.yes ppl, never leave home without ur student ID -.- still,i guess the guys will enjoy this movie more than the girls. At least they get to feast their eyes on one hot babe but nothing much for the girls(except for those who like cheeky monkeys) HAHA. So should you watch it? I dont know.maybe if uve really got too much time to spare. But if i were you,i'd rather keep the loose change for Iron Man which is out next week.

The Shawshank Redemption

On the other hand, i finally watched The Shawshank Redemption yesterday nite(or EARLY this morning). yes i know the show's 14 years old but anyway,i was only 6 when it was released :P and knowing it to be a very well known and good movie i downloaded it and manage to finally see it yesterday. Its about 2 man(tim robbins and morgan freeman's characters) in prison who forms a friendship and Morgan Freeman's character narrates the story.
This movie is good.VERY good. i can see now why it became a very well known movie...not merely for its entertainment value, but the story itself. The script, which beautifully describes the theme of hope and friendship is brilliant (except for all the er.. prison language which was necessary i guess) especially Morgan Freeman's narration throughout the movie. Very very well done. The acting..superb. For those who like me,have not yet catch this one, give it a try! (whats more if ure a fan of prison break) Here's one particular part of the script that i love.

Andy Dufresne: That's the beauty of music. They can't get that from you...
Haven't you ever felt that way about music?
Red: I played a mean harmonica as a younger man. Lost interest in it though. Didn't make much sense in here.
Andy Dufresne: Here's where it makes the most sense. You need it so you don't forget.
Red: Forget?
Andy Dufresne: Forget that... there are places in this world that aren't made out of stone. That there's something inside... that they can't get to, that they can't touch. That's yours.
Red: What're you talking about?
Andy Dufresne: Hope.

This show is a good piece of work. Theres something deep about it and i like that.It struck a chord with me :)
